    • The passing  in June at age 44 of J. Scott “Bow Bow” Brandon, best known as the bass and trumpet player in veteran Valley band Drunk Stuntmen, was met with an outpouring of tributes and front page, above-the-fold stories in local papers.

A quick Google of his name will bring up a flurry of biographical info and comments from those that knew and loved him.

In short, Brandon was born Aug. 14, 1972, in Hyannis. He grew up in Taunton and moved to Northampton in the early 1990s, where he immersed himself in the city’s music scene. At the time of his death he was the daytime kitchen manager at the Iron Horse Music Hall, a job which freed up his nights for artistic expression. There will be a musical and poetic tribute, jam session, and remembrance of Bow Bow by members of his former band the Drunk Stuntmen and other friends and family on Sunday, August 6th at the Iron Horse. Doors open at 5:30 and the on-stage portion of the event starts at 7PM, though the entire evening will be a welcoming gathering, open to the public, and  proceeds will benefit a Northampton Arts Council grant to assist touring musicians.
